Be our next intern!
Throwaway Nation is looking for a few good interns! In particular, we're looking for interns who bring film and/or graphic design experience to the table.

Video Intern:
The Throwaway Nation Video intern will work with the editor to conduct interviews and edit short videos. The video intern will also contribute to the production of short educational or fun videos.
Responsibilities
- Filming and editing interviews and gathering stock footage
- Composing weekly short educational and entertaining videos
- Help develop a strategy to increase viewership
Requirements
- Current college student or recent graduate
- Proficiency with a camera and editing software
- Owning a camera is preferable
- Ability to receive and incorporate feedback into videos
- Ability to understand how information can be presented in a visually compelling manner
- Ability to work under reasonable deadlines
- Positive attitude
- Understanding of environmental issues is a huge plus
- Writing skills, a sense of humor and a facility with sarcasm are also helpful!
Commitment
- The video intern will work approximately ten-fifteen hours per week remotely and on his or her own schedule. The intern will begin as soon as possible.
- The intern will communicate with the editor regularly by phone and email, with in-person meetings throughout the duration of the internship.
Graphic Design Intern:
The Throwaway Nation Graphics intern will work with the editor to develop infographics that make otherwise boring statistics (such as the fact that the international cup and lid market is worth over $20 billion) fun and exciting. The intern will also work with the editor to improve the site’s image.
Responsibilities
- Improving overall graphics on web site
- Designing infographics based on the editor’s concepts
- Conceptualizing and designing infographics based on facts and figures
- Research to find key numbers to incorporate into designs
Requirements
- Current college student or recent graduate
- Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Indesign
- Ability to receive and incorporate feedback into designs
- Ability to understand how information can be presented in a visually compelling manner
- Ability to work under reasonable deadlines
- Positive attitude
- Understanding of environmental issues is a huge plus
- Writing skills, a sense of humor and a facility with sarcasm are also helpful!
