Bottles Up

Who is super excited about their new water bottle? Me. That's right. I'm so excited about my newest BottlesUp gift (thanks, Mom!) that I took pictures to post on the internet.

"Who does that?" you ask, sitting there, at your desk, drinking from a regular cup.

"I do," I say. And here's why:

Reason # A: BottlesUp makes its bottles from...other glass bottles. Okay, so sort of. Bottles Up sources recycled glass for its bottles that they source on site in their glass studio. Recycling is underrated as far as the three R's go (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) because it keeps single use disposable items from actually being disposable, and glass is one of the most highly recyclable materials.

Reason # B: First came art, then came BottlesUp. For green to really make it, it must be beautiful. Environmentally-sound products shouldn't be ugly, they should be just as desirable as the conventional products on the shelf. BottlesUp was born out of an architectural glass studio that wanted to use art to solve an environmental problem. They're still made in through a semi-automatic process so that each one has touched human hands (like Dave's, who made mine.)

Reason # B: It's a fully functional product. The photos don't really do it justice, but the bottle is a beauty. I put lemons in my water and they just look nice with the green silicone lid and decals. Also, that lid seals really well. So well that I turned it upside down and put it next to my computer without any fear of spillage.

Here's a video of the bottles being made:
